How in the world did I become a 3D animator and 3D modeller? Well, that's a bit of a story. For many years I loved drawing, spending hours sitting at the desk in my homes front media room hunched over a piece of paper. Naturally, when I came to high school and had to start thinking about the career path of my choosing I had always wanted to have a job in the creative industries. I thought for quite some time, not really sure of my options when one day I came across a Youtube channel belonging to Aaron Blaise. Now, if you are unaware, Aaron Blaise worked at Disney for many years, now owning his own company called The Creature Art Teacher, working on some of my favourite child hood films from Disneys The Lion King to Disneys Beauty and the Beast. It was because of him that it struck me I could be an animator! I'm not sure how I thought animated films were made before but for some reason it never occurred to me that real people like me could make them. It was as if I thought that people had to be hand chosen from a higher power to be in the animation industry. But alas, I could do it. I could work in that dream industry I never realized was possible. It was a perfect job for me! I'd always been drawn to animations, loving the feeling of whimsy they would bring to me. Working in the animation industry was my purpose. And so, I pursued it through college.
I am proud to say that the animation program at Conestoga College has taught me an immense amount about the industry and allowed me to collaborate with industry professionals that are an inspiration. I have found my calling in the industry and am excited to specialize in 3D animation and 3D modelling for video games, tv shows, and movies. My dreams are coming true and my passion will never stop growing for this amazing industry that brings happiness to the world.
